Lisa Walker is a photo-based artist born in the small town of Kitimat in Northern BC, Canada. She is currently based out of Vancouver, where she received her BFA with a major in photography from Emily Carr University in 2008.
Lisa's art tends to revolve out of the need to journal. She uses photography as a way to work through thoughts and reflect on situations.
Lisa is half Haisla First Nations and half British. Much of her work comes out of exploring this aspect of herself; duality in identity and feelings of being an outsider. Her artwork often involves images of her family and herself, images of home, or places that feel like home. Her recent work also explores scenes with traces of humanity, and her relationship with photography.
Lisa works in digital and analog photography. Her work has been shown in various galleries, websites and publications across Canada.
