Lisa Walker

I am a recent graduate from the Emily Carr University in Vancouver, BC Canada. I have my Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts, where I majored in Photography; I also obtained a Diploma in Fine Arts from Thompson Rivers University.

I use myself in many of my photographs. I found this quote and felt that it really rang true for me: "self-portraits became an outlet for feelings and ideas concerning the nature of human existence which found no satisfactory channel elsewhere." I tend to use photography as a method of archiving, of talking to myself, of remembering. I work things through using art, and find visual language a very effective way of communication.

I am currently based out of Vancouver BC, where I have begun to establish myself by getting artworks published and shown in local galleries. In December 2009 my work will be shown in a solo show at Gallery Gachet, where I was recently invited to become a collective member. I also have a series up at Wicked Cafe from Nov 1 - Nov 30, 2009.
