My name is Lisa Walker, I am a photo-based artist from the small town of Kitimat in Northern BC, Canada. I currently live in Vancouver, where I completed a BFA with a major in photography from Emily Carr University in 2008.
My art tends to revolve out of the need to journal. I use photography as a way to work through thoughts and reflect on situations.
I am half Haisla First Nations and half British. Much of my work comes out of exploring this aspect of myself; duality in identity and feelings of being an outsider. My artwork often involves images of my family and myself, images of home, or places that feel like home. My recent work also explores scenes with traces of humanity, and my relationship with photography.
I work in digital and analog photography. My work has been shown in various galleries, websites and publications across Canada.
